About the Visit our Schools campaign

During the week of the 18-22 October leading CEOs and other senior staff from the private and public sectors, at the invitation of head teachers, will visit state schools throughout the country. It will be chance for them to hear from headteachers and young people about their schools, to witness that work at first hand and to discuss how they could work together to help young people reach their potential.

The National Campaign, the first of its type, will harness the huge appetite across schools, colleges and employers to work together by making it easy and simple.

Hundreds of thousands of employers are already working with schools and colleges and helping young people and at the same time seeing the benefits to themselves of doing so – motivation and retention of their employees who volunteer as well as building their reputation in the community.

The Visit our Schools and Colleges week:

Visit our Schools and Colleges week is being run by a coalition of the leading national organisations from the worlds of education and employment brought together by the Education and Employers Taskforce, an independent charity. Read their joint statement and the case for collaboration: What is to be gained through partnership?

The week is supported by the Institute for Education Business Excellence and scores of members across the country have volunteered to help support the campaign week.

Get involved

If you are a school or college leader, the national campaign is an unprecedented opportunity to invite CEOs, MDs and other senior decision-makers from local private, public and third-sector employers into your institution to have an open and practical conversation to help young people.

Find out more and register to be a part of the campaign, by visiting the School and College Leaders pages. It is completely free.

If you are an employer, from private, public or third sector, this is your chance for senior staff to visit a local school and college, meet young people, teachers and school leaders, and learn how best to work together for mutual benefit. It is also an opportunity to take other people you work with into schools/colleges, show them the work you are doing and inspire them to follow your lead.

Trade unions are big employers in their own right and Learning Representatives are well placed to influence volunteering and closer working with schools, therefore we welcome their involvement in Visit our Schools and Colleges week. The TUC is a major supporter of Visit our Schools.
