School and college leaders

Deadline for registration has passed

Classroom teachers and school and college leaders would love to see greater involvement from employers across school life, but can find it frustratingly difficult to get started.

Visit our Schools week makes it easy to talk to local employers and to focus them on the activities bringing greatest benefit to your school or college. Taking part in the week is completely free to both schools/colleges and employers.

Whether you want to initiate a new partnership or expand an existing relationship or area of work, taking part in Visit our Schools and Colleges week is an easy way to help make those first conversations happen.

Who can get involved?

Any maintained English educational institution serving children and young people from ages 5 to 19, across the five key stages, including primary schools, secondary schools, academies, special schools, sixth form colleges and further education colleges.

How to get involved?

To get involved in the campaign, you will need to complete a short registration form covering:

In September, we will match you with local employers wanting to take part in the week. We’ll either do that directly, or through volunteer local partners, typically Education Business Partnership Organisations. Employers will not contact you directly.

Register to take part.

Visits will take place during the week of 18-22 October. Before the visit, all participants will receive guidance highlighting priority areas for partnership: the National Framework. To find out more about the priority activities and how they can benefit young people, visit the Teachers’ Guide to working with Employers

During the campaign week we want to showcase the importance and diversity of partnerships between schools, colleges and employers and there will be opportunities to highlight visits in local and national media.

For information about how Visit our Schools and Colleges week will work including our privacy statement, see Information for Participants.

Who supports the campaign?

The campaign is supported by the leaders of many national education organisations including the NASUWT, the National Association of Head Teachers, the Association of Colleges, the Association of School and College Leaders and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. It also has the support of all the national employer associations. For more about who is championing Visit our Schools and Colleges week, see the full list of our supporters.

Visit our Schools and Colleges week is overseen by the Education and Employers Taskforce.
